| Voice lessons are given on a weekly basis, and are paid on a per month 4 lesson basis. Lessons are one hour and run $40 per hour. Half hour lessons are available as well and run $25. Half hour lessons are great if you can't financially take a full hour lesson, however a half hour is shorter than most people think, and people seem to benefit more from the full hour. Younger kids do better with a half hour. Unfortunately, due to a tight schedule, cancellations must be made with at least 24 hours notice to avoid losing the lesson. Cancellations made before 24 hours will be rescheduled. 4 one hour lessons - $160.00 4 half hour lessons - $100.00 Payment may be made in cash or check. All lessons for classical voice and musical theater must have an accompanist. I use George Granade, a pianist I bring with me for all lessons. If you would like to bring your own pianist, that must be worked out with me in advance. I use a pianist in the lessons for several reasons. First, it gives the student a chance to really learn ensemble singing. A relationship of trust develops between a singer and an accompanist. Students can really delve into the musical structure of a piece with a pianist in a way that they can't if their teacher plays for their lessons. Second, I want to WATCH you sing. I want to see every breath you take in, I want to watch your mouth and tongue position, I want to keep a solid eye on your posture, I want to see your face and eyes while you sing. I do not want to be distracted by anything at all, and focus all of my attention on YOU! The hour you spend with me is all about YOU! I can't give you that kind of attention if my nose is buried in a score that I'm trying to play for you while you sing! You are paying me to teach you to sing, not play the piano for you. Studio class will be weekly beginning in July and will be one hour in the evening. This will be in a master class format, and you will have the opportunity to hear fellow singers in the studio. Listening to other voices is a valuable learning experience, and can greatly help your development. There will be a $7 per person charge for the class simply to pay the pianist. |
